After long and tiring ways participants from Italy, Poland, Romania and Slovakia have finally arrived to Daugavpils for youth exchange “Theatre of Europe”. They started their first day in Latvia with breakfast and continued it with some funny ice-breaking and teambuilding games. Then they got a deeper insight into project and discussed the important questions concerning it. Finally, at the rest of the day they went to Daugavpils museums, where they were waiting interesting activities dedicated to the international night of museums.

Do you know how to get inspiration to whole day in the early morning? Ask the participants of “Theatre of Europe” and they will share with you the secrets of free writing they learned in the beginning of the second project day. Furthermore, each of them during this morning have learned some Latvian words, so now if someone in Latvia will ask our participants “how are you?”, they will be able to ask you “ļoti labi!”. No less entertaining was the second part of the day, when the participants began to discuss the main topic of the project- theatre. The discussion was very interesting and all participants’ knowledge about theatre become the basis for posters and performances on which they worked in the rest of the day. In the evening was organised Latvian evening, the main theme of which was Ligo and Jani- the most famous and favolrite Latvian holiday when local people participate in joyous festivities, just as their ancestors did centuries ago.

A day started with presentation of particpant’s homework and the honor of first to tell about the theatre art in their country had the Polish team. The first part of their homework was fascinating theatrical perfomance, which as we later learned they started to prepare two weeks before the project. The enthusiasm with which Polish youth approchaed their homework pleased both the organizers and other project participants. After short coffee break all participants had a brainstorm on very important theme- youth values. Then was a mime show, in which youngsters through gestures and emotions shown a situation where mentioned values was reflected. In the end of the day participants had the opportunity to taste delicious food traditional for Slovakia and to participate in other activities proposed by the Slovakian team.

At the beginning of this day participants visited Daugavpils theatre which incidentally is one of the most popular theatres in Latvia. Following the phrase “theatre begins at the cloakroom” the first stage of our tour was the wardrobe, whereas the second destination point of our tour was the main theatre stage where the guide Dainis introduced the participants the history and repertoire of Daugavpils theatre. Then the participants visited dressing room, artist’s studio, dancing room and other components of theatre everyday life. In the second part of the day working in groups youngsters prepared scripts for theatrical performance which will be held on 28th of May in the framework of family fest “Zoomaifest”. According to the prepared scripts the participant’s performance promises to be very interesting...taking the opportunity we invite all citizens and the guests of the city in the courtyard of Latgales Zoo on May 28 at 12 o’clock. The last part of the day was devoted to the participants rest.

Time is going so fast…today is the 5th of the project…The morning started with a creative exercise in Daugavpils city park, during which participants had to depict…animals! This unusual task helped youth to develop their potential and prepare for a big theatrical performance, to which are only a few days left. In the training room participants became spectators of the performance prepared by the Romanian group. Also they learned a lot of things about main aspects of Romanian theatre art. In the second part of the day participants wrote the monologues from the face of those who faced discrimination or other situation connected with human rights violations. The presented monologues were very emotional and heartfelt. After a short coffee break participants whiled away their time drawing the portraits of each other. In the end of the day they were involved in evaluation activities by project coordinator. Then followed Polish evening during which each of participants received gifts from Polish team.

Wizyta przygotowawcza

Liderzy krajów partnerskich oraz organizatorzy z Łotwy spotkali się w Daugavpils, by umówić program wymiany, kwestie przygotowania uczestników oraz logistykę projektu. Grupę z Polski reprezentować będzie młodzież z Teatru Punkt z XIII LO. Podczas APV znaleźliśmy czas także na zwiedzanie miasta oraz zobaczenie rezultatów innych projektów Stowarzyszenia Erfolg.
